Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers in Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third year in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering in his college days. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young men across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
